Parish Nursing

The Cole Harbour Woodside United Church Parish Nursing Ministry offers “The Care and Comfort of Christ” by fostering healing and wholeness of body, mind and spirit through prayer, pastoral care, health promotion, education and advocacy.  Our Parish Nurse, Heather Johnston, who is a registered nurse with specific education in parish nursing, is a Designated Congregational Minister of CHWUC.  She promotes and integrates faith and health in the congregation through many roles such as health educator, personal health counsellor, liaison and referral agent, health advocate, organiser of support groups and trainer of volunteers.  Heather provides confidential support in the church office, home or hospital to help individuals make knowledgeable health decisions and cope effectively with alterations in their health.  If she can be of assistance to you or to someone else you know, please contact Heather @ 902-434-7714.

Blood Pressure checks take place in the Chapel, on the 3rd Sunday of each month, following the 10:30 am worship service.

The Parish Nursing Ministry has a new program!  Heather and the Parish Nurse at Iona Presbyterian have received a grant from the South Eastern Community Health board to start up joint Food Care Clinics.  If you have diabetes, circulatory problems, decreased feeling in your feet, etc. difficulty doing your own feet, do not have insurance to hire someone, then this clinic is for you.  Call the church office. @ 902-434-7714 to book an appointment.  Clinics will take place on the 2nd & 4th Friday of each month in alternating churches.
